As a snow-climate dweller and homeowner, snow may be your mortal enemy. While some are resting on their laurels in mid-December, others are already stock-piling salt and snow-shovels in preparation for whatever snowpocalypse January or February may bring. If you add yourself among these ranks, here are a few more anti-snow hacks to add to your arsenals.
Cooking-oil your snow shovel
Snow sticks – period. Spray some cooking oil to your shovel and no sticking!
Tarp your walkway
If your meteorologist is predicting snowfall, lay a tarp on your walkway. After the snow has done its worst, you pull it up, and you have a clear path. Be warned: Snow is heavy, and you’ll need to post signage so no one falls.
DIY de-icer
Commercial grade de-icers are chemical-laden. Make your own and cut through easily.
Use 3-parts vinegar to 1-part water before a storm and make ice and snow removal easy.
Spray or pour gently before a storm:
2-parts rubbing alcohol and 1-part water
