Cozy Up Your Home

Cozy Up Your Home

cozy up your home blog.jpgWhen I walked into the office this morning there was a crispness in the air. I had a pumpkin spice latte in my hand. The wind blew some leaves off a tree in the distance. It’s fall y’all! For many people, it is their favorite time of year but does the inside of your home match the feeling you get outside? Here are a few easy suggestions to add a few touches of fall to your home.

Add a pillow, throw or blanket to the couch or chair

You can go with something written that emanates a “fall feeling” like, “Be Thankful” or “Cuddle Weather”. Another option is choosing a cozy color or pattern like plaid or an orange/brown hue. Or even just a material that is associated with cooler weather like wool or fur (faux works too) will instantly make your home feel cozier.

Pick up some pumpkins, acorns and gourds for décor

Don’t shy away from using pumpkins and other fall vegetation in your décor! You can typically pick up mini pumpkins at your grocery store. Not a big fan of orange? The white ones are super neutral. You can also fill a vase with acorns or gourds to pull in more fall flair.

Incorporate Fall Floral

You don’t have to use acorns, gourds and pumpkins to decorate. The autumn season brings in a whole new palette of colors; rich maroons, deep plums, vibrant oranges and golds. These hues can be brought into your home with flowers in the center of your table or even a pot of mums!

Don’t forget about scents

There are so many great smells associated with fall... one of them being chili but I’m guessing if your house smelled like chili for more than a day, that might be a bit excessive. But that isn’t so much the case with apple-cinnamon! If you simmer a pot of water with apple slices, cinnamon sticks and cloves your home will waft with the smell of coziness! Also, there are so many great autumn scented candles; my personal favorite is Yankee Candle’s Harvest candle.
