DIY: Planks Over Popcorn

By Morgan Saylor

If it seems like we’re picking on popcorn ceilings a lot lately, it’s because we are. Recently we posted a blog about how to remove popcorn ceilings. We just really love ways to take an old, outdated look and make it brand new again – which is why we’re bringing you this how-to on applying planks to a popcorn ceiling.

Things you’ll need:

  • Wood planks
  • Mitre saw
  • Liquid nails
  • Nail gun & nails
  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil
  • Ladder

Cindy, who authors this how-to through edithandevelynvintage.com, recommends pricier (or simply thicker) planks, but thin works too – just consider your budget and amount of square footage you intend to cover. She also suggests staining or painting the planks before installation.
