Don’t Compromise!

Don’t compromise!

canstockphoto3928143.jpgI was that kid who used to play house daily and would fanaticize about the day when I would have my own house and family to take care of.  That kid, inside me is disgusted, as I write this next sentence—

Barbie is the only one getting her dream house. Ugh!

As we enter adult hood, we quickly realize it all about compromise.  For the most part, you are going to have to give into something you aren’t thrilled about to get something you can’t live without.  That being said, there are some things you never want to compromise on when it comes to buying a home.

First is location.  It matters very little how great the house is if you aren’t happy with the location of the home.  Think about the neighborhood you are in; can you truly see yourself thriving in that environment? After all, no one, wants just to survive in their home, likely, the biggest purchase of their life.  Take into consideration the commute time, as well; commute to work, commute to the grocery, to your favorite dinner spot, etc.  It is suggested to check out the traffic patterns at various times of the day to get a feel for what you can expect once moved in!

Are you really up for such a big project at this point in your life?

This last one gets me every time! Have you found yourself looking at homes and saying, “wow!  That is such a great price for that house?!”.  Yeah, I have too.  And truly, it is a great price but there is a reason it is priced so aggressively.  Be leery of the surrounding area, look out for commercial structures including cell phone towers, expressways, businesses or most recently, in my case, make sure the house doesn’t back up to a correctional facility... yikes!

Happy house hunting you, adults, you! Go get ‘em!
