Hard Wood or Foam?
A couple weeks ago I stumbled across an interior design blog and the woman had the most beautiful hand-hewn beam across her family room. Those beams are super popular and because of that are super expensive. Plus, she would have had to hoist that monster of a beam up to the ceiling! It was then that I saw in her blog entry that the beam was foam. Foam, people! It was light, it was affordable and it was easy to work with! I’ve included a link at the end of the blog for you to check out the faux beams but it got me thinking, what other faux wood options are there?
I think the whole world knows about laminate flooring and tiles that have the same appearance as wood but did you know that they make foam tiles that interlock and look like wood? What a great idea for a good-looking playroom or basement! It will be soft enough to lay on, yet gives you a sophisticated look! Again, like the beam, I’ve included a link at the end.
Last night, I was at Lowes and discovered the most amazing thing (I’d obviously not seen this before). They make MDF Wall Panels that look like distressed barn wood and lots of other looks! It was light enough for me to carry around a 4’x8’ section and looked legitimately like barn wood.
