"Kitchens are the focal point of the home. Again and again our buyers tell us, if you get one room right, get our kitchen right," said Richard Dugas, CEO of Pulte Group, a home building company based in Atlanta.
With kitchens serving as the focal point for many homeowners – and the primary location for entertaining – it’s not surprising that builders have started to upgrade their styling.
So what’s trendy right now?
Energy efficient, top of the line appliances; a sleek, sensible layout; cleanliness; smart styling; and fun gadgets. Along with these essentials, building a kitchen that fits the stage of life of the home buyer is also important. For example, a first time buyer might seek smaller cabinetry and a bigger area for entertaining; whereas, a buyer who is downsizing, might request the opposite.
