Perk Up Your Indoor Plants

Are your plants looking a little droopy lately? Have they turned a new (yellow) leaf? Don’t give up on them just yet. We’re here to help you tackle the most common indoor plant issues, and get your little green friends healthy again.

Check out these common issues and their solutions:

The leaf dropper

If your plant is dropping leaves like crazy, nip it in the bud! Dropping leaves on a regular basis is no joke; in fact, it usually means that your plant is under some sort of duress. While some plants will drop leaves naturally, the key is the health of the leaves. If the grounded leaves are healthy, you’re in the clear, but if they’re brown or yellow, you might have a problem.

The solution

Remove fallen leaves immediately, as they may be harboring fungal infections. Aside from that, make sure your plant’s top inch of soil is fully drying out in between watering times, and that your pot has a functioning drainage hole.

Dusty or web-covered

Either you have an aversion to dusting your plant regularly….or you have spider mites. Sounds scary, but they’re pretty normal. While chances are you won’t ever see these spiders, (they’re just too tiny) you can still get rid of them.

The solution

Take a damp rag and give your plant a thorough wipe down regularly. As a long-term solution, move your plant somewhere that has more humidity. If your problem persists, spray the leaves with an insecticidal soap and wipe it clean twice per week.

Late bloomer

If your plant is refusing to show its full potential, it has one of the easiest issues to fix.

The solution

Shed some light on the situation – literally. Your plant just needs to catch a few more rays. Make sure you slowly progress your plant toward the sunlight though. For example, move it across the room and closer to sunlight in phases – doing so too quickly can burn your plant’s leaves and damage it.
