Shine On!

Shine On!

Shine on blog.jpgIt is that time of the year where it starts getting dark earlier in the evening! Right now, it feels a bit cozy but on those nights when you are driving home from work with little to no sunshine to be seen then it’s kind of the worst. If you are like me, you’ve been counting on the sun light shining through the windows and have let a few of those burnt out lightbulbs just exist—dead and lifeless in its fixture. So when I was going on about the cost of lightbulbs the other day, my coworker joined in and told me that he has recently replaced all the lightbulbs in his house with LEDs. Of course, I responded with a “oh goodness! I’m too cheap to drop money like that on light bulbs”. Well folks, he informed me that LEDs are no longer for the rich and famous. We found a 16 pack on amazon for $25.00!

Not only are LEDs more affordable now than ever but they last so much longer than my current incandescent lights. According to the information on Amazon they last ten times longer! So, by switching out my type lightbulbs I will be saving money and minimize the hassle of having to switch out bulbs in the future. In fact, to get a feel for how long these bulbs last consider that it is on for 3 hours a day. A lifetime of one of these bulbs is 15,000 hours which means you will not have to change your light bulb for at least 10 years. You may forget how to change the bulb within that decade, ha! Even if your light is turned on for 12 hours every day your light bulb is still lasting for over 3 years.

Obviously, there is savings in not having to replace your LED bulbs but you are also going to save on your electric bill. LED bulbs use 90% less energy than incandescent bulbs according to elemental led and on top of that they give off only about 4% of the heat that incandescent bulbs do. The news about these bulbs being a better option is not new; many people have known that the energy consumption is less. While we all want to reduce the negative impact, our lifestyles have on the environment, the $26 cost of one light bulb was a hard pill to swallow. That is why the news about the pricing is so exciting!

I’m getting off here to go buy these bulbs before you all grab them up! (The link is at the end) In addition to great priced light bulbs, I have some more good news for you!
