Refinished Floors, Are 203k Loans Available?

Simple to Stunning: Refinished Floors

Last week we talked about the beach house renovation from Young House Love. The scope of the project was amazing and the before and after photos were spectacular but did you realize that they refinished those floors? Y’all, those were the original hard wood floors! When that fact hit me, I almost couldn’t believe it! Their shiny and beautiful floors came from a dingy, dirty start. I wouldn’t have even set my purse down on the floor the way it started. The floors are pine and because of that they couldn’t get rid of the discoloration created from sun or rugs. The couple mentions, in their blog post, “Apparently, even if you sand and sand all the way through pine, discolorations from sun or rugs can’t be removed. In oak, you just sand them enough and it’s all gone. But in pine, these things go all the way through the wood! It surprised us at first, but we’re embracing the imperfections of this 100-year-old floor.” But the difference in coloring kind of lends to the character of the home, in my opinion.

I’ve included a few photos below of the floor transformation but for more detail, check out the Young House Love blog.

If you are considering a renovation, consider applying for our FHA 203K rehab loan. This loan allows you to finance the renovation itself, not just the cost of the home! IF you would like to learn more, give one of our loan officers a call 1-888-914-2276 or you can apply online by clicking the "Apply Now" button on our Homepage
