Tame Your Pantry.

By Kimberly Shane

Our pantries, closets, drawers—that is where we keep our messes, conveniently behind a closed door so the chaos is tucked away from the rest of the world. But if you are like us, it is that project you plan to get to one day. Let’s make today that day!

Here are some of our favorite tips on how to best take your pantry back:

Organize your Pantry by Zones- Identify categories that fit your lifestyle, ie. Kids Snacks, Portable Lunches or Baking. Designate the zone for each and label. Keep the zones for your most frequently used items, in easy reach.

Use Baskets to Control Clutter- Use baskets or containers to contain the clutter by grouping smaller and similarly categorized items such as toothpicks, paper napkins and plastic ware. This will keep the clutter to a minimum.

Easy Weeknight Meal Bins- Set yourself up for weeknight success! Put a week’s worth of dinner ingredients into bins—each meal in its own bin. For example, one bin might contain chili seasoning, canned beans, canned tomatoes and pasta noodles; no more hunting through the pantry for your chili fixings! You can even attach your recipe!

Tiered Storage- Group by food type for your canned goods (vegetables, fruits, soups etc.) and arrange in rows, using stair-step shelves will put the back row of cans in view.
