The Piggy Bank: Make Your Own Savings Bank

This project is right up my alley; it involves crafting, is inexpensive, and promotes financial discussions. It is a win-win-win! You just need an empty container with a cap—think square juice containers, peanut butter jars or big powered drink canisters. Once these containers are thoroughly washed out (no creepy crawlies in the savings banks please) and dried, the fun can begin!

Oh Deer...

Oh Deer

Snow White welcomed all the woodland creatures with her song and sweet demeanor. But not all of us are fortunate enough to have her looks and singing voice so if we want the joy of woodland creatures to be a part of our back yard we may have to try a bit harder. And why wouldn’t you want wild life in your back yard? It brings the beauty of nature to your property and is living proof that your place is safe.

Bug Off!

Bug Off!

I’ve always imagined having a neighborhood that was concealed in one large bubble, like the neighborhood in the movie, Truman Show. The temperature could be regulated, we could have scheduled rain and the best part, no mosquitos!!!! I understand that most bugs contribute something positive to their environment but I could do without those big, red welts covering my legs every summer. Side note, telling a female covered it bug bites, “it’s because you’re so sweet”, only makes them feel better, if they are under the age of 16.

DIY Hammock Chair

Is there anything better than lounging in a hammock, reading a book, under a tree, in the middle of summer? Well sure there is! Think about it, just bring that hammock inside where it is air conditioned and bug free! You don’t have to worry about your sweaty fingers sticking to the pages or having to reapply sun screen after the sun shifts. Thanks to this post from A Beautiful Mess you won’t have to bring your hammock stand in too—you can make a hammock chair!

Feeding Fido

Today I’m going to help you claim some pantry space back from your animals. If your home is like mine, there’s not much space that isn’t taken over by your pet, so I was excited to find this DIY project and it looks nice too! Also, a plus, it doesn’t look like you must have too many tools. In fact, the only additional tool that I would need is a jigsaw but I’m positive that every adult male I know, owns one. Check out the step by step instructions by linking to this website here!

Ditch Dryer Sheets

Ditch Dryer Sheets

Am I the only one who pulls their warm laundry out of the dryer and hugs it for a minute, taking in the fresh smell and its warmth? If you haven’t done it, try it! I guarantee a sense of home. But let me tell you, on those days I’ve run out of dryer sheets it doesn’t have the same feel because that fragrance is missing. While they do smell good, many dryer sheets contain unnatural products, as with a lot of items we purchase today.

Just Toss & Grow: DIY Seed Bombs

You can make bombs right in your own home… seed bombs that is!  I just love their name; think of it—a bomb that creates beauty, fragrance, and joy! It makes me smile just thinking of it. They can get a little messy when making so create these beauties outside. They are made of clay, dirt and seeds that you can just toss and wait for mother nature to take her course or by all means, plant them.

To DIY or Not DIY

I’m no Hamlet but I do know enough to ask the question, “To DIY or not to DIY?”.  My hat goes off to all those home project bloggers and Pinterest warriors; they make it look so easy! In fact, they almost had me convinced that I could build my own dining room table. Me? With power tools? That is a scary thought! But I might be able to successfully refinish my outdoor furniture. So which projects are “Do it Yourself” and which ones are “Don’t you dare, Do it yourself”? Let’s consider this together.
