Simple to Stunning: 100-Year-Old House
Many of the rooms and projects I share on our Simple to Stunning are smaller ones that can be done with little demo and often can be taken on by savvy DIY’ers, however, today I thought I would showcase a total overhaul done on a home by one of my home reno bloggers, John and Sherry from Young House Love. They have lots of great ideas and their blog is written in such an entertaining way that you will likely spend at least an hour looking through their many pages of projects!
Simple to Stunning: Bonus Room
Not too long ago we highlighted a pajama lounge in our simple to stunning section of the blog and as cozy as it sounds, dedicating a whole room in a family home for feeling cozy outside your bedroom or other living area can feel unpractical for many. John and Sherry on the Young House Love blog show off their use of their bonus room. Their bonus room, “crammed in a decent amount of fun, function, and a big ol’ spot to sit down and never get back up again. The couch in here is truly a vortex that’s impossible to resist.”
Simple to Stunning: Bathroom Mirror
One of these days I am going to do this. Framing my bathroom mirror has been on my list of things to do in the last two places we’ve lived and now again in my current home. It is easy, inexpensive and makes a huge impact on the space! Follow along as I recount Shanty 2 Chic’s steps in updating the boring, builder-grade mirror that can be found in bathrooms everywhere. The best part is, this tutorial uses materials that won’t damage the mirror and aren’t permanent so it works even in rentals- or if you aren’t sure you will love the result. (But how could you not?)
Leaky Windows. What now?
It’s a tale as old as time… girl moves into her dream home and just as she is getting settled in and it starts to feel like it’s always been hers… there is a problem! Our little problem showed its face last week. We had our first heavy storm (with rain, not snow) which brought with it a strong north-eastern wind. Luckily all our big trees stood strong but our bedroom windows, well that’s a different story!
Home Renovation Trends 2018
Whether you are designing your new home or wanting to update your current one, there are some trends to consider for the coming year which can make your home more marketable in the future!
Simple to Stunning: Play Room
Everywhere I turn there are storage containers and bins for sale. My guess is after the holiday season, everyone is bogged down with more stuff and in need of a place to put it. This seems to be especially true for kids; they collect more toys and parents strive to find a place to put them. Today’s simple to stunning shows how one family used a bit of extra living space to functionally and attractively store their little one’s toys! This space includes shelving, bins and even a cute area to display works of art!
Simple to Stunning: Entry Way
Does your entry way say welcome to our home, come in and stay awhile? Or does it say, “meh…”? Well the home we are checking out today took an entry way that was very “meh” and turned it into, “ooo this is nice”! The good news is that since they started with such a bland area they didn’t have to undo anything, it was like starting with a black canvas. They added some paint and décor items to give it a fresh look! I especially love the blue door!
