Simple to Stunning: 50-Year-Old Kitchen Makeover

Hellooo beautiful home! We are back in my favorite couple’s home this week! This time, we are looking at their kitchen. Kitchens can be an ominous makeover; they are expensive and when under renovation, you are limited on your meal options, being that you don’t have a kitchen to cook out of. But if you moved into this house and faced these 50-year-old knotty pine cabinets, linoleum flooring and old appliances, I think you, like this couple, would say, “It’s got to go!”. Unlike the previous Simple to Stunning examples I’ve shared, this one is a total overhaul BUT what a transformation it is! It is now a bright space filled with light. They opted for white cabinets, added in hard wood flooring and more efficient, new appliances!

Simple to Stunning: Multi-Functional Guestroom

We are featuring another room transformation from one of my favorites! I can’t get enough of this couple and their ability to create a beautiful space out of something that looks so dated and common—without a total renovation overhaul! Just like I’ve said before, I think a big part of it for me is that their first house reminds me of so many that are on the market right now and I just sit back and think, “I wonder if I could pull off a flip of these homes.” Well, they did it!

Simple to Stunning: Master Makeover

I can’t get enough of this couple and their ability to create a beautiful space out of something that looks so dated and common—without a total renovation overhaul! I think a big part of it for me is that their first house reminds me of so many that are on the market right now and I just sit back and think, “I wonder if I could pull off a flip of these homes.” Well, they did it! Their master bedroom started off as a boring square room with a tacky border and tiny closet. To increase storage they added two wardrobes on either side of the bed with beautiful floor to ceiling curtains which made the room both more functional and luxurious! Then they added a large mirror to the other side of the room which made the whole space appear larger. What simple fixes for such a big impact! I can’t hardly believe it! I’ve included the before and after photos of their amazing transformation below but please check out their blog, for more pictures, at: http://www.younghouselove.com/photo-gallery-2/our-first-house/

Simple to Stunning: A Backyard Transformation you won’t believe!

Alexi took on the project of transforming her backyard from an unwelcoming, honestly repelling, space; to an inviting area that I, personally, would never want to leave! This is more than some stain on a deck and new patio furniture; she had to grow grass before she could even get started! Then she built a deck, added some pavers, a fire pit and chose the BEST outdoor lighting available! I’ve included the before and after photos of her amazing transformation below but please check out her blog, for more pictures, at: http://seekingalexi.com/backyard-transformation-before-after/

Simple To Stunning: Dreary Den Gets Brightened

As soon as I hear the word, “den”, I automatically think about the room that Mike Brady would retreat to with his architecture drawings in hand. So, when looking at the photos of John & Sherry’s first home and renovation project their den stood out to me. They managed to turn a dark, masculine, dated den into a bright, inviting, family room! They painted over the dark brick and paneling with a cream colored paint and put in the same hardwood floor that can be found throughout the house to give it a seamless, open feeling. They also widened the door way from the kitchen and to the sun room to encourage that same open feeling. I’ve included the before and after photos of the den project below but you can see more about this project by checking out their blog at: http://www.younghouselove.com/photo-gallery-2/our-first-house/

Renovation Money Smarts

You’ve been dreaming of that charming house that backs up to a park and you could have totally pictured yourself living until you saw the wood paneling and shag carpet throughout. Or maybe your existing home is perfect except the laminate flooring in the kitchen and that ancient deck out back.

When considering a renovation project, financing and budget are going to be at the forefront of your mind. But not to worry, where there is the dream of a beautiful home, beneath layers of old wallpaper, there is a loan product- FHA 203 K Streamline. It is designed to allow buyers and refinancers the option to renovate without blowing all their savings on home improvements. Essentially, this loan allows you to roll in the costs of home improvements* and the purchase price of your home into one loan and closing.
