Are You Ready To Be A Homeowner?

Are you ready to be a Homeowner?

Ready to be a homeowner blog.jpgBuying a home is such an exciting time! You start day dreaming about the kind of home you want, where you will look, and find yourself asking questions like, “will there be room for my tomato garden?”. These things are so much fun to think about but there are some other questions we should be asking ourselves before we land on homeownership. It is the American Dream but you don’t want that dream of yours to turn into a nightmare.  Here are some questions to ask yourself if you think you are ready.

Do I have a steady job and reliable income?

You want to be confident in your ability to cover a monthly payment on your mortgage, not just for the next few months but for a considerable period—after all this is a home we are talking about. Your home, where you will be growing your family, growing your tomatoes or even just growing your since of personal accomplishment.

Is my credit history reasonable?

Stop it. Don’t start doubting yourself. The question isn’t, “is my credit history perfect?” it is, “is it reasonable?”. It isn’t a requirement to have sparkling credit but you do want to make sure that your credit is in a reasonable standing.

Do I have money saved up?

Even if you are opting to use a 100% financing mortgage you will likely still need to have some savings for closing costs. And hey, if you don’t spend that money on closing costs then that is more money you have for new patio furniture!

So, if you are ready to be a homeowner then check us out at www.smcapproved.com and find a loan officer that is near you; you can work with one remotely of course but it’s kind of fun to run into them at your local Kroger! If you can’t decide on who to work with give us a call at our main number and we will put you in touch with someone!
