Summer is great…but the humidity, not so great. Not only does it make most people miserable and frizz hairstyles beyond recognition, it can be a big contributor to mold. And mold is something that most people dislike even more than humidity. So, for go green Friday this week, we’re covering awesome ways to eliminate mold without using any chemicals.

  • Tea tree oil – Tea tree oil can be used for many things…it is gentle enough to use in a skincare regimen and powerful enough to tackle mold. Mix 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil and 2 cups of water in a spray bottle and spray on mold – you don’t need to rinse this off. The smell of tea tree oil is strong, but slightly minty and rather enjoyable.
  • Vinegar – It’s seems to be the cure for everything. Use white distilled vinegar in a spray bottle and spray directly on mold, you don’t need to rinse this off if you can handle the smell. If you can’t, check out this recipe for creating pleasant smelling vinegar!
  • Grapefruit seed extract – If the scents of tea tree oil and vinegar don’t sit well with you, then this is your go to. Mix 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract with 2 cups of water in a spray bottle and spray on mold. Do not rinse this one either.
