Design That Sells

By Morgan Saylor

Interior design, that is. Thanks to the research efforts of Zillow, listings that include “subway tiles” or “barn doors” as interior design features are selling like hotcakes.

More accurately, the Zillow Digs analysis revealed that home listed with subway tiles and barn doors listed as features sold for as much 13 percent more than anticipated, and faster than homes without the feature.

Along with barn doors and subway tiles, Zillow researchers also found fifteen other descriptive keywords associated with impacted sale prices. Whether or not you’re looking to sell matters not when it comes to considering styles that are universally sought after! Here are a few of the words that resonated across listings found also ranked on the Zillow Digs study:

  • Shaker cabinets
  • Farmhouse sink
  • Quartz
  • Craftsman
  • Exposed brick
  • Pendant light
  • Frameless shower
  • Heated floors
  • Stainless steel
  • Granite
  • Backsplash
  • Tankless water heater
  • Outdoor kitchen
