Fall: A Buyer’s Market

By Morgan Saylor

As summer fades and the color of leaves begin to change, the fall real estate market can begin to look different too. Laura Agadoni via Trulia’s blog explores aspects of the fall market after Labor Day and what it might have in store.

Fall is a buyer’s market.

If you’re a homebuyer still looking for your home this fall, Agadoni writes there are typically fewer buyers after Labor Day, but it is dependent upon local market cycles. Families try to be settled prior to school start dates. Removing school-age kids from the equation puts buyers without them at an advantage.

Home prices tend to be lower.

People often try selling their home during the summer, but if they’re unsuccessful and the task carries over into fall, they may be interested in lowering their asking price.
