Derby season is an anxiously awaited time for Kentuckians. The world-renowned event draws 150,000 visitors every year and is a staple in Kentucky’s history. With the Derby right around the corner, we thought we’d give you a run-down of some of the facts:
- The race is 1.25 miles
- The horses are all three-year-old thoroughbreds
- The first Kentucky Derby was in 1875
