Impress The Jetsons

Impress the Jetsons

Let’s all be honest, when we saw George Jetson watching his flat screen tv or video calling folks from his watch instead of talking on a phone connected to a wall; we all thought, “maybe we will see that one day wayyy in the future”. Well folks we are there! Sure, we don’t have amazing closet that dresses you. But we do have apps that put together outfits for us! But I got to thinking, if George were around today, what could impress him? Which of course prompted me to search the internet to find the latest in home tech. I think it’s worth noting that the Jetsons didn’t have Google.

It looks like Alexa dominated the CES Tech showcase which apparently boasted a collection of all the latest and greatest in home tech. The best way I can think to describe Alexa is like a Siri for your home. You can ask it a question and it will answer; that way you don’t have to do any pesky typing in the search bar. Please disregard my snarkiness because genuinely, this would be a cool thing to have; not only will Alexa give you facts but you can ask it to do all kinds of things! Now, there are tons of appliances that have Alexa-abilities. Televisions that are controlled by Alexa remotes (voice control), washers that keep you informed on cycle times, vacuums and ovens controlled by your voice. I’d say George and Judy would love the thought of speaking Alexa to run their home instead of their maid, Rosie who still must walk, or roll, over to the oven to turn it on.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that robots won’t make their way into our homes. While science fiction has warned us about the possibilities of inviting these robots into our lives; it seems that developers aren’t being dissuaded. Mansion Global who attended the CES showcase, mentioned robots who are designed to help raise children and ones that are indoor/outdoor but the stand out for them was Kuri. This little guy looks like Baymax from Disney’s Big Hero Six, which makes him automatically pleasing. Kuri will capture heartwarming videos to share with you so you don’t have to worry about missing your daughter’s tea party because you wanted to snap some photos. This little guy was designed to connect with you and is happy to share in any of your favorite entertainment—music, movies, books! It is my opinion but I’d take Kuri over Rosie any day!

Do you know what I wish I had a Rosie or Kuri to do? Go grocery shopping! I dread sitting down to make that list and taking the time to grocery shop. Well thanks to all those smarties at LG, there is a refrigerator that will order groceries for you… just by talking to it! You can also peer into the LG Smart Instaview Refrigerator without even having to open the door. You can snack search without having to get a cold chill! This fridge will also play music for you. So, until we have machines who can prepare our dinner for us, you can listen to tunes while you cook, all through the fridge.

We may be ways off from flying cars but we are much closer to a Jetsons lifestyle than I’d realized! While we at Stockton Mortgage use advanced technology to offer you the best financing for your home; we still give you the opportunity to sit down and discuss this big decision with one of our supportive Mortgage Bankers. These folks can offer years of experience and helpful tips throughout the way! Check out one of our offices in your area: www.smcapproved.com
