Smart House: A Peep into the Future

By Morgan Saylor

Once the subject of sci-fi movies, smart features in homes are a thing of now. A few days ago we highlighted some cool new tech stuff on the market for energy savings and even new phone apps meant to make homeownership easier. But now, thanks to Zillow, homeowners everywhere can be on the look-out for newer, smarter, and techier things to come…

Same Old, But New

As you may already know, the same old home features are becoming smarter and tech-based – wifi thermostats, smart locks that allow you to unlock your front door using your phone, interior light automation…

Zillow speaks specifically about Presence, a security camera that can alert the homeowner of not-normal encroachers, telling the difference between people, animals, and cars.

Sensor Tech

If you thought motion activated lights were the bee’s knees, you’re in for a treat with some of the new sensor-based tech available for your home.

According to Zillow.com, Halo detects not only smoke and carbon monoxide, but fast and slow burning fires. HYDRAO is a smart showerhead that changes colors to alert you to your water usage.

Robots

Interested in a robot that folds your clothes? Seven Dreamers’ Laundroid does just that, the technology from which may be used with some washers and dryers by 2018, according to Zillow.

Highly publicized and hot on the market is Samsung’s Family Hub Refrigerator, with touch panel and ability to play music, but also to help you keep track of the food you need and what you have in your fridge.
