Fun ways to re-purpose old windows

By Amy Patterson

Old_windows_blog-01Old windows are so much fun to use to decorate your home – and the best part is, they are super cheap! You can usually get them for just a few dollars at your local thrift store. The options are about endless with these beauties, and depending on how big, what shape and how many glass panes your windows have, you can do all kinds of different things.

Picture frame – Just put the pictures on top of the glass and use a clear adhesive. For a cool touch, make a scrapbook or family tree window.

Chalkboard – Paint the glass parts of your window with chalkboard paint. Depending on how big your window is, you could use it for decoration, a schedule board or even a calendar!

Colors – Choose a color theme that fits your room and then paint each glass section of the window a different color within that theme, you can also write your favorite words or sayings on top of the paint.

Frame – Paint the frame a bright spunky color, like deep teal to contrast a chalkboard painted window or a plain glass window.

Mix and match – Do it all. Paint one glass square with chalkboard paint, add pictures to a few more and then add color to the ones that remain. Have fun with it.
