How to: Restore Tile Grout

By Amy Patterson

I bet your favorite thing to do on a weekend is sit at home and scrub your tile grout until it looks like new again…right? Umm, NO. But it’s a necessary evil that must be done in every home by every homeowner…right? No! Good news, there is an alternative solution that is way easier, won’t kill your elbows and shoulders (no scrubbing) and costs less than $10. Sounds good…right?

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Polyblend grout renew (pick whichever color you’d like – depending on your tile – but this DIY used snow white)
  • A toothbrush
  • Paper towels
  • Coffee (because every DIY is better with it)

Here’s what to do:

Simply squeeze a small dot of the grout renew onto your grout line, then use your toothbrush to even it out and spread it along evenly. After it begins to dry (it dries very quickly), take your paper towel and wipe off the excess from the tiles. Then…keep going, until it’s done – probably a few hours (Netflix marathons are recommended).

The results are amazing!

And according to the author of this DIY, the results continue to be amazing even six months later. Any dirt or grime that finds its way in there can be easily wiped up (no scrubbing) and the floors go back to their previous shine.
